SITE NEWS 'Ferragosto' 2010 - August 15th and half way through the traditional summer period of Italy. This is the week when many tourist businesses make their yearly income as cities empty and beaches fill up. Not a good weekend to be on the motorways, autostrade and such. August is always a busy month here in MCdV. The Commune publishes a flyer that covers some of the events. Yesterday was a banner day. The morning started with a visitation by a Motoraduno - the 30th of Umbria, which involved numerous motorcycles from various European clubs arriving through the morning rain and fog. BMWs, Hondas, Yamaha, Harley Davidsons, at least one Triumph and a smattering of Italian Ducati's. The town was filled with the rumble of their engines bouncing off the stone walls and filling the piazzas. The afternoon included a Mostra -Art Show Opening of the work by the instructors at the International School of Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture. We generally have the final shows of each terms students, roughly every three weeks, but this was special. |
The day finished with a concert in the Teatro - the return engagement of a German Classical Guitarist, Johanna Beisteiner 'This month, we also had the Medioevale Weekend, complete with, what we have taken to calling the Cena Mobile - We move from piazza to piazza for the various courses of a town dinner. The following day we suit up in costumes of the era. Click here for a few images. La PIU PICCOLA GALLERIA Privata DEL MONDO ' had another opening and concert in the piazza that was well attended And the town now has a couple of new businesses.: Joining 'Il Grottino di Zio Toto' ( Tel. 075.8780652 ) and 'Giro di Bacco' ( Tel. 075 878 0698 or 333 421 1344 ), the restaurant complex Centro I Girasoli in Madonna di Piano has opened. It consists of a Pizzeria, with tavola caldo at lunch time, A full restaurant with terrace on the upper level RISTORANTE LE TERRAZZE ( Tel 075 8796005 ) and a Bar with pastries that is open all hours - except Mondays. And MCdV now has a resident travel-tour consultant. Interesting Italy. Caterina has taken over the space opposite our front door that used to be Claretta's vegetable, fruit and flower shop. The business will undertake the whole gamut of tourism organization from guiding to organizing weddings and conferences, and while located here in MCdV, is willing to undertake these activities all over Italy.
